On September 18 the Apple
Music Festival kicks off at the
Roundhouse in Camden, bringing
with it some giants of modern
music. Britney Spears, The 1975,
Bastille, Alicia Keys, Calvin Harris
and more will perform in this
legendary corner of north London.
This issue features interviews with
and insights into the full line-up,
including Matt Healy’s justification
for smoking and boozing onstage
at 1975 shows (“I see everybody
having a good time and I want a fag
and a glass of wine”), Dan Smith’s
take on a new Bastille tune (“almost
like our own superhero theme
tune”) and Britney’s revelation that
she might not be around for much
longer. When asked if she thinks
she’ll have the longevity of her hero,
Madonna, she responds: “Nope.
Give me five – two? – more years.”
