Description
The most beautiful and easily accessible hike in Norway! The trip across the
Romsdalseggen ridge is to be found in the middle of the most stunning
mountain area of Norway! Up on the ridge you have a fantastic viewing arena
with views over the Romsdal mountains, with the Trollveggen wall,
Romsdalshorn and Vengetindene as the most distinctive peaks. Along the ridge
you can also look over to Kongen, Dronninga and Store Trolltind. You can gaze
all the way to the town of Molde and the Norwegian Sea. Far down in the
Romsdalen valley, the river Rauma twists through the valley, and we can get a
glimpse of the train on the Rauma Railway.
The bus goes from the bus terminal in Åndalsnes at 09.30 and up the
Vengedalen valley to the parking site where the hike starts. Follow signs
towards Romsdalseggen, past a cabin and up the hillside along the river. The
terrain turns flat just over the treeline, and the path goes gently towards the
Hesteheian moors. Follow the beaten track to the left along a distinctive
mountain ridge between the mountains Blånebba and Aakesfjellet. Fantastic
view from the top of the ridge. The path towards Åndalsnes goes over to ridge
towards the Mjølvafjellet mountain. A bit steep downwards and over the
Halsaskaret pass before ascent to Mjølvafjellet. Here, there is a short steep
section secured with chains. Further on the terrain turns more flat towards
the Aakesvarden cairn, and from here there is a distinctive ridge down
towards the Mjølvaskaret pass with an open passage over to the Høgnøsa
mountain. Continue down towards the stone cottage at the Nesaksla top, and
further along a distinctive and well signposted path from the top back to
Åndalsnes. Some steep sections at the top secured with chains.
Remember to close gates behind you, and keep dogs on a leash.
Season:
Bus from Åndalsnes to Vengedalen every day from 1 July ‐ 10 September at
9.30.
Price:
NOK 135, family ticket NOK 300 (bus transport from Åndalsnes to Vengedalen
and brochure with map and information incl.). Tickets can be purchased at
tourist office, hotels and camping.

A rather steep but very good path with a beautiful view
over Åndalsnes, Isfjorden, up the Romsdal Valley and
out the Romsdalfjord. 715 metres above sea level.
Approx. 1‐1,5 hours walk to the top....
