Fleece is a very forgiving fabric and so easy to work with, you’ll enjoy adapting
any baby sweatshirt or sleepwear pattern to make this soft, snugly bunting.
Project Specifications

Note:
Most fleece fabric is not approved for sleepwear.
Therefore, this bunting should only be used as outer­
wear.
Our sample is made to fit a baby 27"–28" long, 16–18
pounds. Adjust fabric and zipper accordingly.
• Any commercial infant sweatshirt or sleepwear
pattern
• 1 yard fleece fabric

yard tubular cotton ribbing
• 22" zipper
• All-purpose thread to match fabric
• Tracing paper
• Basic sewing supplies and tools

Instructions
Step 1.
Place tracing paper over front and back pieces
of commercial pattern. Redraw sides and bottom edges
to make a simple bag shape as shown by dotted lines
in Fig. 1.

Step 2.
Using redrawn pattern pieces, cut one back,
two fronts (reversing one) and two sleeves (revers­
ing one).
Step 3.
Baste center front seam to accommodate zip­
per length. Stitch remainder of seam with

allowance and regular stitch. Insert zipper, following
package directions. Remove basting threads.
Step 4.
Stitch front and back together with

Step 5.
Measure wrist edge of sleeve. Cut two pieces
of ribbing

Step 6.
Fold ribbing in half lengthwise; stitch one rib­
bing cuff to each sleeve, stretching slightly to fit.
Stitch underarm seam. Insert sleeves in bunting.
