DODGE VC-3

While you’ll come across Dodge G505 �½-ton WC series trucks occasionally if not
frequently on the European MV scene, vehicles in the G505 VC series that preceded
it definitely fall into the ‘hen’s teeth’ category. Based on an existing civilian design
and manufactured in six variants during 1940, sources disagree as to exactly how
many were produced in total, but it is safe to say that the number was in the region of
4650. However, there does seem to be a consensus of opinion that only 816 were VC-3s,
the closed cab pickup. This rare example is owned by Derek Evans and was seen at
2014’s War and Peace Revival marked as a US Army Air Corp vehicle.
The other variants were the VC-1 command reconnaissance, VC-2 radio,
VC-4 closed cab chassis, VC-5 open cab pickup and VC-6 Carryall.
All were powered by Dodge’s T202 six-cylinder engine.
