novel-reader

succinct
view
of
more
favourite
prose
fictions
current
in
some
of
the
Germany,
such

they
have
been

from
age
to
age,

previous

of
printing,
down
to
the
present
period.

popular

poetical
and

prosaic

no
country

have

abundantly

duced
or
more
zealously
treasured
them

to
have

convey

idea
of
them

clearly
than
in
the
words
of
Mr.
Weber,
in
his
"
Illustrations
of
Northern
Antiquities,"
when
treating
on
the sub-
ject
of
Teutonic
poetry
and
romance.
these
Teutonic
romances
with
those
of
"

compare
France,
England,
and
Spain,
we
are
immediately
struck
with
the
want
of
chivalrous
courtesy
in
the
knights,
and
with
the
praises
be-
stowed
upon
the
most
savage
